Notes from the desk

Boards

Shorter pieces from simpcity.chat for anyone heading toward the live Simpcity rooms. The long guide still lives on the home page. Accounts, passwords, and posts live on simpcity.es.

These notes assume you have already decided the community is for you and you are 18 or older. They are about the boring parts that actually decide whether the first evening goes well: mail folders, room choice, and which bookmark to keep.

SignupOct 2, 2026

The email step is the whole signup

The form on simpcity.es is not the hard part. People finish it, feel done, and then discover the account will not sign in because the confirmation never got opened. That link is the account. Until it is clicked, you have a username on paper and nothing else.

Use an inbox you can reach from the same phone you are signing up on. If the message is slow, look in junk and in any promotions tab before you request another copy. A second mail does not cancel the first, and hunting through three identical messages is how people click an expired one.

Pick the username you can live with. Changing it later, if the board even allows it, confuses anyone who already replied to you. A strong password that you do not reuse matters more than a clever handle. Write the password down offline if your memory is unreliable. Do not put it in the same thread where you introduce yourself.

Once the link has been opened, sign in once and leave. You do not owe the community a post on minute one. The signup section on the home guide has the same steps with a little more room around them.

What simpcity.chat is for

People type Simpcity because they want the forum, not a brochure. The catch is that the forum’s address and the explainer’s address are not the same thing. simpcity.chat is the explainer. It can sit still while the live rooms stay on simpcity.es.

That split is useful on the nights when an old domain simply does not resolve. Instead of trusting whichever mirror a stranger pasted into a chat, you can check a page whose only job is to point at the working door. The buttons here are that pointer. They are not a second copy of the boards.

Threads beat a disappearing chat because you can search them later. Categories keep that search honest. Bookmarks are how you build a private path through a large archive. None of that requires you to perform on day one. It requires you to know which site is which.

When yesterday’s URL goes quiet

Forum domains get blocked, forgotten, or replaced. When that happens, simpcity.chat names one working home: https://simpcity.es. Register there. Sign in there. If a friend sends a different host, ask whether they checked it this week before you type a password into it.

Two bookmarks are enough. One for the boards, one for this guide. The second exists so you are not collecting a folder of dead links “just in case.” If the live address itself ever moves, the change will be written here first, in the banner and in the buttons.

Do not pay anyone for an “updated invite,” and do not install a random browser extension because a post said the real site is hidden behind it. The real site is a normal address. If you cannot reach it, the problem is usually a network block or a typo, and Support on the boards is the place to say so once you are in.

PaceSep 11, 2026

A calmer first few days

Day one can be quiet. Confirm the mail, add one line to the profile, and open the room list until the names feel familiar. Search a subject you already know so you can see how older titles are written. That preview is worth more than a hasty first thread.

Midweek, save two guides and answer one post where you actually have context. A specific correction or a missing link is plenty. “Same” can wait forever. If a thread has already solved the question, leave it unless you can add a date and a change.

By the weekend, Community is there if you want to say hello. Lurking is also allowed. Simpcity does not run on mandatory introductions. The longer version of this pace is the first-hour section on simpcity.chat. When you are ready to post, sign in on simpcity.es.

The phone version is the real version

If you only ever open Simpcity at a desk, you will miss how most people actually read it. The phone is where titles get skimmed, where a huge image makes a thread unusable, and where a typo in the subject line sits there for a day because editing feels like work.

Put simpcity.es on the home screen. Keep replies short enough to read without pinching. Collapse a quote that is longer than your own paragraph. If a button sits under the browser chrome, scroll once before you decide the site is broken.

The same manners apply as on a large screen: search first, pick the right room, and do not paste a password or a personal inbox into a public reply because the keyboard was faster than your judgment. More of that lives in the phone section of the main guide.
